A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Pasco County on December 5 claimed the life of a 66-year-old man according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The troopers reported that the driver in question crashed into the back of the car ahead of him, which had stopped due to another crash on I-75, when he was unable to stop his own vehicle in time. Another vehicle then crashed into the back of his car.
The driver of the car sandwiched between the other two vehicles was transported to a nearby hospital, but eventually died from his injuries. The driver who had initially stopped suffered minor injuries, while the third driver was unharmed according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Sections of the interstate remained closed into the afternoon following the crash.
