Three People Killed, Two More Injured In Multi-Car Crash on I-75

Three people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Sarasota County early in the morning on Sunday, March 5. Another two were injured and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol the crash, which included a semitrailer used to transport vehicles, occurred on the southbound lanes of I-75 and resulted in closures of the entire southbound section of the road for several hours.
After conducting a preliminary investigation, officials reported that three additional crashes occurred after the initial crash, but did not provide more details about what caused the first collision.
